The Friday Market is coming to an end…

Some of you will know and love our Friday market stall, lovingly set up and packed away each week by Les and Jackie. We are sorry to announce that for various reasons this market is coming to a close. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Les and Jackie for their resolved dedication to running the market for the past 6 years, to the faithful help of other friends and family members who have supported them with it, to all those who have donated their items to be sold and to everyone who has bought them; over the past 6 years it has raised £1000’s for charity – well done Houghton Regis! This really is the end of an era and one that will be missed greatly, but I think we can all agree that it has been fantastic while it’s lasted!

This is not a taught lesson but rather a group for people to explore, grow, and share their drawing skills. We will however begin each session with a short video tutorial and there will be advice available from local artist Rachel Wilson.

Each week there will be a different still life set up to inspire your drawing, though beware, some weeks it may not be so still!

Some topics that we will be exploring are: The use of light, composition, drawing a moving subject, incorporating text and much more!

Basic materials will be provided such as paper, pencils and charcoal. The use of these materials is included in the £5, as well as a cup of tea and a biscuit! You are welcome to bring along any of your own materials and equipment that you wish to use, we will also have other materials available to purchase as well sketchbooks and art folders.

And as if that wasn’t enough…your first session is absolutely free!

Inspirational Artist #1

Andrew Myers is a portrait artist with a difference, unfortunately not a very local one though! Some say that all good artists have a screw loose, that’s where the creativity comes from, but California based artist, Andrew Myers, proves this is not the case; all his screws are just as tight as they need to be!
